The latest fitness trend is reaching new heights, literally.

Indoor rock climbing is rising across the country, with two new climbing walls in Wichita since December.

Brian Lewis is getting out of his usual workout, and into indoor rock climbing.

Brian says, "It's fun, it's a good workout. Your forearms and your back just kill (you) when you're done."

Maybe that's why it's so popular. And that popularity is going up in health clus like the Genesis north Rock Road branch.

Genesis Wall Director Daniel Voges says, "You're going to be able to use a lot of balance, there's a lot of coordination, there's a lot of mental aspect involved because there's a lot of problem solving."

You have to really think about where to put your feet and hands. Genesis has a wall that's 46 feet high. The north branch YMCA has a 35-foot wall. YMCA wall expert Shamus Crimmins says, "We have different ways to go up in each part of the ropes, so it's not a routine you can do something different every time."

Looks like indoor rock climbing will be hanging on for a while.
