The battle over Wichita's school bond issue will heat back up later today when two groups speak against the idea.

The Wichita School Board hearing arguments from the Citizens for Better Education and Wichitans for Effective Education at its meeting tonight.

The proposed bond issue would add 60 safe room storm shelters across the district and repair aging athletic and fine arts facilities. The issue is slated to appear on the November ballot.

Also on tonight's agenda, the school board is expected to fund the replacement of Wichita Northwest High School's baseball facilities.

Wichita Police believe an arsonist set fire to the team's dugout, storage shed and equipment April 19. Police have not arrested a suspect.

Some of you are so ridiculous. It's so easy to blame everyone around you, and imply that no answer is ever good enough. At least the schools are trying. They really don't have much to work with, especially when some loser parents of the very children that attend the public schools make school funding last on the priority list. Stop being selfish.

That is a awful thing to say about our kids. It is because negative, selfish people like you are raising kids.

They need to pay off the other bond before they ask for another one. Such a waste of money. Let Bingo games pay for the school bond!

If these kids are our future we are doomed

Hey James before that other big bond went for years before it was passed and was to satisfiy for years wichitas still paying for it then came the lottery . Now another bond how about stopping all the duplications in different lanaguages. That would pay for the major improvements for the schools not the wish lists. The children I know in school are coming out with out the basics but a lot of social crap.

Lets not forget that these children in the schools are our future. You dont make school a good place to learn they arent going to stay. Lets do the right thing and VOTE YES! If you have been into some of these schools you would see why it is so important they receive this bond issue.

What do they need a bond for the lottery was supposed to pay for all school improvements; the legislature wouldn't lie to us; just like the casino's will fix everything also
