Indicted Dr. Stephen Schneider is at home for the first time in months today.

The Haysville doctor was released from custody this morning. He was met at the Federal Courthouse in Downtown Wichita by his teenage daughters and other supporters.

A Federal judge yesterday agreed to release Dr. Schneider on several conditions. Those conditions include forfeiting $2 million in assets if he fails to show for court. Dr. Schneider will also wear an electronic monitoring device, and can have no contact with his patients.

Prosecutors accused Schneider of overprescribing painkillers to patients. They link him to the overdose deaths of 56 patients.

This man was my family doctor fifteen years. We trusted him! He started my neice on lortab when she was 15 and was "fierd" by him from there she bought narcotics such as lortab 10mg. Xanax 2mg. and methadone sold by his patients. My sister has many medical issues she has an abdomanal scare that runs from her pelvic bone to the sturnim caused by a botch hystorectomy, she has less than half her colon left because the fine doctor HA HA recommended her to the doctor that butchered her. She has lost her daughter to an O.D. because she new Schneider patients who sold their drugs to pay the bills and yes I have names of these patients . This is not right if I killed or was responsible 4 these deaths I would be under the jail but Its ok that he killed people I new going all the way back to my freinds death. Female Tony and many more! I know not once did he recomend drug treatment. What comes around goes around & God I pray he gets his! I know he was after the money an not quality of life just$

i have to totally agree with here or me. and he didnt put a gun to anyones heads, yes my heart goes out to those who have lost a loved one, in any situation.but what doctor can go door to door and be a med aid. there must have been some under problems going on. or something. also look at all those with cp and cancer patients that are without a doc or cpp that cant even get out of bed due to pain, enjoy there familys and kids and life its self due to pain, that wont go away,no one ask to be in chronic pain ,do you really believe we enjoy not being able to do the things we use to do.its the little things in life that mean somuch.i feel their pain, those who lost a loved one,but that doesnt make it the doc fault, question is FOR TOSE OF YOU WHO DONT LIVE IN CHRONIC PAIN 24/7 "DUE YOU FEEL OUR PAIN"- "I THINK NOT" HOPE YOU NEVER HAVE TO GO THREW IT IN YOUR LIFE TIME. OR WATCH A LOVED ONE ,THAT CANT EVEN WALK TO THE BATHROOM,ECT YOU CAN BET IF IT HAPPENED TO U,CP WHAT WOULD U DO pray/f/help

I agree with Dr Schneider they should have been watching closer if they thought something was wrong its not his fault these people took to many meds just because they have them doesn't mean they had to overodse on them not his fault if they overdose they need to use their own judgement on meds

What in the world is wrong with you people? Do you have any idea what is going on in the real world? There may have been 56 people that overdosed on meds, there are a lot of drug addicts in the world more than willing to take advantage of a caring physician or a flawed system. But what about the 70,000 people who commit suicide every year because they cannot get treatment for chronic pain? Prosecuting the doctor is not going to stop addicts from getting drugs, it's going to stop dr's from treating patients in desperate need of LIFE SAVING medication that has been proven, in most cases, to be the most effective and safe way to treat chronic pain. And one more time!!! What evividence do you have that would make you, an american, decide to ditch the constitution and find the doctor guilty without a trial?

You are so right, A. J. I too am sick and tired of hearing how the big bad government prosecutor is badgering this poor doctor and his wife. After all, they were just tring to make a buck (over 4 million bucks) by getting his patients hooked on his drugs. So what if 56 people died in the processes? I want to hear more about these peoples stories about this so called doctor.

I agree with AJ

Sick of hearing about poor Schneiders would rather read about how his actions harmed the 56 people and what their familes are going thru right now.
