Railroad Worker Killed Near Emporia Save Email Print

An Ottawa Man was killed after being struck by a train Thursday. The Lyon County Sheriff's Department says it happened just after 6:30 p-m. The eastbound train struck 62 year-old Salvadore Vega at Road F, about two miles west of Emporia.

Vega was pronounced dead on the scene. He worked for the Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railway. The case is still under investigation and the sheriff says an autopsy is scheduled.
