Leaders of the Kansas House have postponed a debate on a bill to allow two coal-fired power plants near Holcomb.

This bill, which would have given Sunflower Electric Power the go-ahead on their $3.6 Billion project, was drafted after Governor Sebelius vetoed a previous measure regarding the power plants.

Some members didn't like parts of the bill, including carbon dioxide limits and a measure to encourage the use of wind-generated power. Environmentalists and other critics said these provisions didn't make the bill any more acceptable.

Sunflower Electric Power has bipartisan legislative support on this issue. Many lawmakers see it as economic development and said they believe it is vital to the state's future power needs.

A story was run in the Arkansas City Traveler, about the high ozone levels in the area of one, of the proposed building sites of the over-polluting coal-burning powerplants, and I`m sure that Sunflower Electric, and all of our wonderful, greedy State Legislators, already knew this. With cleaner-energy,it`s not as easy to rape our pocket-bocket books.
