The Kansas Senate endorsed a bill to increase the minimum driving age.

Once passed, the minimum age for a learner's permit would change from 14 to 15 while the minimum age for a restricted license would be increased to 16. Unrestricted licenses would carry a minimum age of 16 1/2.

The measure would not affect farm permits, which would remain at age 14.

The bill would also ban the use of cell phones while driving to those under 18.

A final vote of approval is needed to send the measure to the House.

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

I feel that teen drivers simply do not understand the consiquences of unsafe driving habbits, and nothing can teach them that but life expeirience. Until they get that, I don't think that they should drive! The only way to get that is to live life. I feel that this is a very good thing!

I completely agree with raising the minimum driving age. I'm a college student and even agree with increasing the age to 17 or 18. I'm a very defensive driver, and am amazed when I see 14-16 year olds driving around with music blaring, talking on their phones, messing with friends in the car, etc. If nothing else, they put other drivers at risk.
