38-year-old Sgt. 1st Class Collin J. Bowen died March 14 at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, of wounds suffered when his vehicle struck and improvised explosive device January 2nd in Khowst Province, Afghanistan.

Originally from Millersville, MD, Bowen was an infantryman serving on a military transition team assigned to the 1st Brigand, 1st Infantry Division.

Bowen entered the Army in July 1993.

145 Fort Riley Soldiers and Airmen have been killed while serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
