Dozens of Maize residents are angry over a chemical plant's desire to move to their town.

Many people opposed to the idea of Barton Solvents setting up in their backyard, spoke out against the proposal. The company's Valley Center Plant exploded last summer, causing ground water contamination.

Barton Solvents said its studying to move the plant to a location near 119th street, and idea that's not faring well in the minds of some residents.

"I think their safety is compromised, property taxes will go down, and I'm banking on making some money off of my little ghetto house," said Heather Hayden, Maize Resident.

The city of Maize advised residents not to worry, the city said they're still in the information gathering stage. The city said the best time for residents to voice their opinion is during the town hall meeting set for May 5th.

Hey! I was in that video and what really happened was that signs said there was an official meeting but when we got there ot wasn't so durring the public comment session everyone spoke his or her mind about it! And the 6th grader who spoke wasn't as good as she looked. She said "like" 20 times and said nothing helpful!

oh geezzzz people. they would be building a brand new multi-million dollar facility. the only reason their old facility blew up was because it was old and wasnt upgraded because they had plans of moving all along.

Remember the triclorethylene leak and the ground water contamination it caused several years ago? Wait until Baton gets in there!
