Wichita---Somber piano music and a slide show chronicling the life of slain missionary Martin Burnham marked his funeral Friday.
Former Kansas Senator Bob Dole, Senator Sam Brownback, Filipino Ambassador, US Ambassador to the Philippines were among the several dignitaries who gathered for the memorial service.
Martin Burnham was killed one week ago in a bloody gun battle between the Filipino military and Muslim rebel group Abu Sayyaf.
The rebel group took Martin Burnham and his wife Gracia and more than 20 other people hostage last May. During the course of a year the other hostages, escaped or were released, and some of them were killed. Martin and Gracia Burnham and a Filipino nurse
Ediborah Yap were the last remaining hostages.
Yap was also killed in the rescue attempt, while Gracia took a bullet in her leg.
Funeral services for Ediborah Yap was held yesterday in Lamitan Philippines. Four U S green berets in camouflage carried a white wooden coffin to it's grave. Several hundred people attended the service.
