Kansas Law requires anyone convicted of a sex crime against a person to register as a sex offender. Now, the District Attorney asks a judge to include a crime against a dog as a reason for Josh Coman's name to be added to the system.

Coman was arrested for having sex with a rottweiler while already on probation for a similar offense. In March he pleaded guilty to aggravated sodomy with an animal, which is usually just a low grade misdemeanor crime, but the state is seeking more. They're asking for Coman to be required to register as a sex offender under the state act.

Kansas defines a sex offender as any person convicted under any violent crimes which are sexually motivated and are performed for the purpose of sexual gratification.

Judge Joseph Bribiesca found Coman's behavior fit these requirements Wednesday, requiring him to list on the sex offender registry. He also sentenced Coman to 6 months in jail with mandatory counseling.
