Do you think he has to stay a certain distance away from veterinary offices, pet stores, dog parks, etc? :-)

Rick, so basically you're saying that we should wait until he commits a crime against a human?? I cannot believe you don't think he shouldn't have to register as a sex offender because he's only had sex with 2 dogs, thats disgusting. It is AGAINST the law therefore, he should be PUNISHED to the FULL EXTENT of the law.

Sex offender status is definitely warranted. Does anyone believe that this person would hesitate to sexually assault a human?

Rick, you kind of scare me. From your comments it would seem as long as the animal doesnt mind, whats the harm. Perhaps you speak from experience?

A, as a matter of fact I have a young daughter. But we are Americans. We don't punish people for crimes they haven't yet committed. We don't assume someone would rape a child because they had sex with a dog. And no, I honestly don't believe I want to know if my neighbor is into bestiality. Pedophilia, sure. Bestiality, no. I also have a Malamute, but I'm not particularly concerned for her safety. I doubt she'd be psychologically damaged by an encounter with this guy. I think HE would be physically damaged. I believe sex offender registration is a serious consequence for serious crimes against fellow humans. I respectfully disagree that this crime is a registerable offense.

Moe, no one made you click on the story and read it. Rick, here is some food for thought, serial killers generally start off with animals before they escalate to human targets. I agree with everything A said, this guy needs to be on the registry.

I just hope this is the last time I hear about this sick crap!!!

Rick, the kind of depraivaty that would result in someone raping a dog out of vengence probably knows no bounds regarding species or age. Perhaps he wouldn't resort to pedophilia, but I'm not risking a child's well-being for him. There's obviously something disturbed about him, to break in to houses and rape dogs on two seperate occasions. I think he ought to be on the register. Wouldn't you want to know if you lived next to some sort of beastiality afficiando? I would. Half of the business of watching one's kids is knowing who the adults around are... but perhaps you don't have children.

Look, this is just ridiculous! I understand and support registering sex offenders. It's to protect the public. Not the public's DOGS. We're Americans. We prefer that the punishment fit the crime. This man has committed crimes, but for most of us these crimes are more amusing than heinous. Clearly, the Rottweiler didn't have an issue with his actions, or she WOULD have stopped him. IMHO, this is a misuse of necessary, powerful legislation.
