A Hugoton man has died after a rollover accident involving a Kansas Department of Transportation vehicle in Grant County.

It happened about 11 miles south of Ulysses, around 9 a.m. Monday.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Jeffery Harris, 43, was pulling a trailer north on K-25, when the vehicle he was driving went off the side of the road, and entered the east ditch. Harris over corrected, entered the west ditch, and rolled the vehicle.

Harris was taken to a nearby hospital, then flown to Wichita for treatment where he later died.

A KDOT spokesman said Harris was a 14-year veteran with the agency. Harris was a senior equipment operator out of the Hugoton office.

"We offer our heart-felt condolences to Jeff's family and friends during this difficult time," said KDOT Secretary Mike King. "Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they try to cope with this tragedy."

Harris, was known as "Stack" by his friends and co-workers.
