June 27 -- The man suspected of being the B-T-K
strangler who terrorized the Wichita area pleads guilty to ten
counts of first-degree murder.

Sixty-year-old Dennis Rader of Park City entered the guilty
pleas today as his trial was scheduled to begin. Prosecutors said
before the hearing that there was no plea deal.

Rader will not face the death penalty because all the crimes he
is charged with were committed before the state adopted capital
punishment.

Rader admitted killing ten people in the Wichita area between
1974 and 1991.

The serial killer was known as B-T-K, the self-coined nickname
that stands for "Bind, Torture, Kill." He taunted media and
police with cryptic messages that became increasingly frequent in
the months before Rader's arrest on February 25th.
