Severe thunderstorms brought high winds, hail, and even a small tornado to parts of Southern Kansas Sunday afternoon. The picture below was submitted by Jim Epperson, who snapped the shot looking to the southeast from the 900 block of South Milan Rd. just after 5:00 p-m.
Kevin and Charmin Moore also submitted a picture of hail littering the ground in Argonia.
No injuries are reported from the tornado, but there are several reports of minor property damage from Sunday's line of storms.
Highway 179 south of Anthony, KS remains closed because of power poles that were knocked down. Some utility poles near Caldwell are also reported down.
The emergency manager in Cowley County is also reporting a roof blown off a barn two miles south of Udall and numerous tree limbs blown down. A grain bin is also reported blown down eight miles north of Winfield.
Meanwhile, parts of Northwest Kansas are under a blizzard warning. This includes the cities of Goodland and Colby. Widespread moderate to occasionally heavy snow will combine with north winds of 30-to-40 miles-per-hour to produce visibilities at or below 1/4 mile a bit later this afternoon and continuing into the early evening. Total accumulations of 2-to-4 inches of snow can be expected.
