Man Dies After Collision With Semi In Sumner County

Wednesday, July 4, 2012

A man has died in a crash involving a car and a tractor-trailer in Sumner County. The accident happened around noon on U.S. Highway 160 at North Greenwich Road, which is a mile and a half west of Oxford.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says 30-year-old Layne Parson was westbound on Highway 160 when he crossed the centerline and struck a semi head-on, throwing him from the vehicle. The Oxford resident was pronounced dead a short time later. Troopers say he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the semi was not hurt.

Highway 160 was closed in the area while crews cleaned up the accident.
