A tragic accident on Kellogg has taken the life of a 28-year-old man. It happened just after 10:30 p.m. Friday in the eastbound lanes, between the downtown and Seneca exits.

Several eyewitnesses saw a car swerve abruptly and strike the center divider. As it rolled, a passenger was thrown out of the car and pinned under it. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wichita Police Sgt. Jim Merrick says, “We are investigating the possibility that another vehicle may have interfered with the travel of this vehicle, causing this single vehicle to swerve and lose control on Kellogg.”

The man who died was the passenger in the car. The driver was taken to a local hospital, but we’re told he does not have life-threatening injuries. Merrick says there’s no indication that the driver was speeding.

No names have been released. The accident remains under investigation.
