The challenge of finding a home is now the least of Ryan Cole's worries. His new house is in Colorado Springs.

"We're moving away from tornadoes and the possibility of our house being blown down," said Cole. "To now, we're moving to a place where our house could burn down. Kind of a crazy anomaly."

Their new house in Colorado Springs is on the edge of an evacuation area. Firefighters have not been able to contain the inferno that is covering more than 28 square miles.

"We're close to the mountains. Might not have been the best idea now, given that we have all these wildfire problems," he said.

Friends of the Coles, who are not in the line of fire, are feeling the effects from the smoke and ash.

"The amount of smoke that's in the air, is just really unhealthy. At the same time, it's kind of putting everybody on pins and needles," he said.

While the fires are still on the couple's minds, they are keeping busy with the move and hoping the situation will improve.

"King of wish that this thing would go away. If they could get some rain or something, that would be pretty sweet or if the wind would start dying down," said Cole.

They plan to leave Wichita in two weeks, pending the status of their new house.
