A woman who was an intended victim in a Hutchinson murder has been arrested following a standoff.
It happened at a Hutchinson Apartment complex near 32nd Terrace and Garden Grove Parkway early Friday morning. Authorities responded to the report of a kidnapping, where a woman called 911 saying she had been force to an apartment at gunpoint. The woman managed to escape, but two people inside the complex refused to leave.
The standoff ended peacefully several hours later after a man and a woman walked out of the building.
Authorities booked Kayla Salyer into the Reno County Jail on charges of aggravated battery, kidnapping, criminal threat, and aggravated assault. The Hutch Post reports she testified as a prosecution witness in the preliminary hearing against Billy Craig Jr., and Charles Christopher Logsdon. She was the intended victim in the Jennifer Heckel murder last summer. Investigators said Heckel's death was a case of mistaken identity.
Kayla Salyer remains jailed on $118,000 bond.
Officers also arrested Paul Salyer, 43, with felony interference with law enforcement. He is being held with no bond.
