Extreme Makeover Yard Edition

May 23 - One house in Newton has just undergone a major transformation. It belongs to the winner of KAKE's Extreme Makeover Yard Edition.
Earlier this month Mary Wray found out she was our winner. Her first thought was to run back inside her house to bring out Hadley Davidson. She and her husband Jim had planned to move back to their native Colorado until Hadley came into their lives.
Caring for Hadley became Mary's priority in life when her husband passed away suddenly, but her house didn't fit his needs. It had a deck her husband had built years ago and lots of empty yard space. Hadley is confined to a wheelchair and could use the deck.
Our makeover team was inspired the minute they met Mary and Hadley. For the next week they worked around the clock to make the yard the best it could be. They tore down the old deck and replaced it with a beautiful handicap accessible deck.
The bare backyard was transformed into a garden designed to look like Mary's home state of Colorado. Now Mary says she and Hadley will be outdoors everyday.
This project was made possible by our sponsors Treetop Nursery, Dave's Decks, Target Stores, Allstar Deck Treatment, Associated Lumber and Supply, and Cranmer Grass Farming.
