Before you head out the door, we like to catch you up with what happened while you were sleeping.

While it happened before most people went to bed, a large power outage in south Wichita left about 2,700 residents in the dark Wednesday night.

The outage was centered near Pawnee and Southeast Boulevard and began about 9:30 p.m. Power to most homes and businesses in the area had been restored by midnight. By 3 a.m. Wednesday, Westar Energy did not report any outages in Sedgwick County. Westar still has not determined what caused the outage.

Wichita Police checked the report of someone shooting a gun into the air about 11:30 p.m. near Haskell and Meridian in southwest Wichita. Officers found shell casings in the area, but no suspect. Nobody was hurt.

A man was hurt in what police believe was a domestic disturbance in northwest Wichita early Thursday morning. Police were sent to the 1600 block of North Pleasantview Drive just after 5 a.m., where a man had been cut with something. He had minor injuries and declined treatment.
