A 62-year-old man was not hurt after making an emergency landing in a field.
Crews were called to the scene in near 143rd St. East and 71st St. South just after 1 p.m.
Officials said the pilot had just taken off at a nearby airfield, when the engine failed. The plane hit a tree line and landed safely. No one else was hurt.
The aircraft was a homemade plane that the pilot had built.

Authorities are investigating what caused a small to make an emergency landing in southeast Sedgwick County.
It happened near 143rd St. East and 71st St. South just after 1 p.m. The plane made an off-field landing and came to rest in a fence row.
Scanner traffic indicates no injuries have been reported. All passengers made it out of the aircraft safely. No one was transported to a hospital for treatment.
