Investigators are searching for a cause in a fire that damaged a west Wichita business.
The fire broke out in the 2200 block of W. Douglass just after 9 a.m. Monday. First arriving crews found thick smoke showing from the front of a business in a strip mall.
Battalion Chief Brad Boyd said firefighters found flames inside the store. No one was inside the building at the time.
Crews managed to get the flames under control quickly. The damage was mostly contained to one unit in the strip mall. Other surrounding businesses sustained smoke damage.
Damage estimates have not yet been released.

Firefighters are working to control a blaze that broke out at a west Wichita strip mall.
Crews were called to the scene in the 2200 block of W. Douglas just after 9 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke showing from a business in the building. It is unclear whether anyone was inside when the fire started.
