One teen was killed and two others were hurt in a rollover accident in western Kansas early this morning.
It happened about two miles east of Leoti on Wichita County Road 15, just south of the K-96 junction, at around 2:45 a.m.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says that a southbound 2003 Ford pickup, driven by 16-year-old Morgan Kay Altman of Leoti, left the roadway and overturned, striking a power pole and coming to rest on its wheels.
Altman was trapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Her two passengers were ejected.
Scott Gruver, 18, Scott City, was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, and Serena Garza, 15, Leoti, was taken to Wichita County Hospital for treatment.
The conditions of the two survivors were not immediately released. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
None of the vehicle’s occupants were wearing a seatbelt.
