One of the last requests of slain Kansas missionary Martin Burnham was for his funeral sermon to be preached by a long-time friend and former classmate, Kansas City minister Clay Bowlin.
About four-thousand mourners are expected for the service
tomorrow in Wichita.
Thursday is a private memorial service for Burnham in his
neighboring hometown of Rose Hill.
Burnham was killed last Friday during a firefight between the
Philippine army and Muslim rebels holding him and his wife, Gracia
hostage. She was wounded in the leg, but returned home
Monday.
Bowlin is senior pastor at Northwest Bible Church. He and
Burnham attended Calvary Bible College, in suburban Kansas City, in
the early 1980s.
Bowlin says he'll talk about the Burnham courtship, among other
things.
KAKE 51 will have live coverage of the memorial service Friday at 10 a.m.
