In the weeks following the tornadoes that tore through our area, people have been stepping up and finding ways to help the victims rebuild what they lost.
On Sunday, three local food trucks parked their mobile kitchens at a Wichita Thunder Tailgate Party to serve up good food for a good cause. A portion of all the proceeds from the event will go to the United Way's Tornado Relief Fund.
“I’ve grown up in Derby and, of course, Oaklawn is close by. Just seeing the devastation of that community, I thought what can we do,” Jodi Buchanan with B.S. Sandwich Press said.
“I thought it was a great idea so I just tried to make a few phone calls and tried to make it happen so hopefully we can really do some good out here,” Jeff Schauf with The Flying Stove said.
“It's a pretty horrible thing. (We'll) go through anything to help them get back on their feet,” Michael Awesome-Noyse from MMM Sandwiches! said.
