Alcohol may have played a factor in an accident that sent a Reno County man to the hospital.
It happened near Price Ave. and Dunkin St. in Turon Wednesday around 8:15 p.m. Reno County authorities were responding to the report of someone being thrown from a vehicle.
Officials said four people were trying to transport a stove. Two people were sitting in the cab of a truck, and two others were holding the stove in the bed of the truck. The truck passed through a dip in the intersection, and both people in the back were thrown from the vehicle.
Edward Hoover, 55, of Turon was flown to a Wichita hospital for treatment of head injuries. He has since been upgraded to good condition. James Hill, 43, also of Turon was thrown from the truck, but not hurt.
The driver, Tanya Bettes, 31, of Turon was booked into the Reno County Jail on aggravated battery, reckless bodily harm with a deadly weapon and driving under the influence.
