Woman Dies After Butler County Crash

Butler County Sheriff officials have identified the woman killed in the accident as Wendy Garcia, 19, of Wichita.

The driver of the truck, Jason McCormick, and his three young children were taken to a Wichita hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials say they will return to the scene of the accident Tuesday morning to investigate whether sun glare could have caused Garcia to not see the stop sign.

A woman has died from injuries sustained in a Butler County crash during the morning commute.

Emergency crews were called to the scene near SW 120th and Butler Road (Pawnee Street and Andover Road) around 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Authorities said the woman failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection. The driver of a southbound truck could not stop in time, hitting the woman on the driver's side door.

Investigators said it is unknown whether a sun glare may have played a role in the crash.

The woman's name has not been released.

A woman suffered life-threatening injuries after failing to yield at a Butler County intersection.

It happened on SW 120th Street and Butler Road (Pawnee Street and Andover Road) during the Monday morning commute.

Officials said a woman was driving east on SW 120th Street and failed to yield to a stop sign. A southbound truck struck the woman's car on the driver's side. She was taken to a Wichita hospital in very critical condition.

The truck driver received potentially serious injuries, while three children were transported with minor injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

One person has been rushed to a Wichita hospital in very critical condition after an accident in Butler County.

It happened at SW 120th Street and Butler Road around 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Details of the accident remain unclear at this time, but dispatchers said two vehicles were involved in the accident.

One person was taken to a hospital not breathing, another was transported with serious injuries. Four other people received minor injuries in the crash.

KAKE News does have a crew headed to the scene and will provide more updates as they become available.
