Salina authorities are investigating a sexual battery case involving a pastor.
Officers arrested Allen Scheer, 49, in the 100 block of N. 9th St. Wednesday. He was booked into the Saline County jail on one count of sexual battery.
Investigators said Scheer inappropriately touched an adult male, with the intent to arouse or satisfy sexual desires. The incident reportedly occurred at the victim’s home in Salina.
The case will be handed over to the Saline County attorney’s office for formal charges.
The Sacred Heart Cathedral’s website lists Scheer as a pastor for the organization. The Salina Diocese issued a statement on their website saying "The Diocese will fully cooperate with the investigation conducted by local law enforcement, and Father Allen Scheer has been placed on administrative leave."
The Diocese appointed Father Randall Weber as Parochial Administrator of Sacred Heart Cathedral.
