About 1,500 cheering supporters braved blowing snow and frigid
temperatures to crowd into a gymnasium at Butler Community College
to see Obama.

His visit comes one week before Kansas' presidential caucuses.

Obama has Kansas ties: His mother was born at Fort Leavenworth,
and his grandfather is a native of El Dorado.

Democratic presidential candidates long had sought Sebelius'
backing in a state that George W. Bush carried by large margins in the 2000 and 2004 elections.

Sebelius said Obama had the ability to bridge generations for the betterment of the country.

It was Obama's first-ever trip to the hometown of his maternal grandfather. Obama told the crowd "We're family."

It's a trip he says will show voters he was not born into privilege.

His mother grew up in Kansas, but the family eventually moved to
Hawaii, where Obama was born and raised. Obama says relatives in
Kansas have been helping out with the campaign.

Obama's staff feels confident he'll win the state, one of the smaller prizes doled out on Super Tuesday.
