UPDATE: Friday, April 13, 2012
Speed may have played a factor in a motorcycle crash that killed a Spirit Aerosystems’ employee, police said.
The accident happened on MacArthur Road near the Interstate-235 ramps around 3:45 p.m. Thursday. Officials said Charles Johnson, 55, was riding his bike home from work, when he collided with a school bus.
Investigators said the bus pulled out in front of Johsnon, and may not have seen the man riding west on MacArthur. Witnesses reported the motorcycle was traveling well above the posted speed limit.
Six Hadley Middle School students were on the bus at the time of the crash. They were not hurt. The bus driver received minor injuries.
Johnson’s death is the fourth traffic-related fatality, and the second motorcycle death of the year. Officers worked 12 deadly accidents at this same time last year.

A man on his way from work - at Spirit Aerosystems was riding his motorcycle on MacArthur under I-235...
just as a school bus was exiting the interstate.
“We take it he probably just didn't see the motorcycle, that's when the motorcycle actually ran into the side of the bus,” Lt. E.J. Bastian said.
The man died at the scene. But before police had time to contact his family, his family members found their way to this scene.
“The daughter said she got a call from her mom that said her dad hadn't come home yet and it had been about an hour. They decided to go ahead and trace the route that he usually goes home,” Lt. Bastian said.
Within minutes, officers say the family was able to identify the man killed in the crash as their own loved one.
“They gave us a description of their dad and the motorcycle and what he was wearing and unfortunately everything tied up,” Lt. Bastian said.
We're told the school bus had left Hadley Middle School.
“The kids were not injured of course they're very scared and shook up,” Lt. Bastian said.
The students on board witnessed the crash, police waited until their parents could be with them to interview all six students.
A spokesperson for the school district says they plan to have a crisis team made up of counselors and social workers visit Hadley Middle School Friday, just in case any of the children involved in Thursday's crash need support.
