WPD: Student Threatens To Shoot Classmates

UPDATE: Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Wichita Police have arrested a middle school student accused of threatening other students with a gun.

Officials at Hadley Middle School learned of the incident Wednesday from police. A district spokeswoman says the confrontation took place across the street from the school late Tuesday afternoon.

The 14-year-old boy is accused of confronting three other Hadley Middle School students and pointing a gun at one of them, threatening to shoot. The three went home and told their parents.

Police don't believe the boy had the gun with him in the school, and they're not sure what the teen was upset about.

Wichita police arrested a 14 year-old middle school student Wednesday morning after investigators say he threatened classmates.

It happened at Hadley Middle School, 1101 N. Dougherty Ave, around 4:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said a 13-year-old girl and two 14-year-old boys were across the street from the school when a 14-year-old classmate approached them. The teenager showed his classmates a black handgun, and threatened to shoot them.

The three students left and told their parents about the incident. Officers were called to the scene, but did not find the suspect.

Authorities said the boy was in attendance Tuesday, and they don't believe he had the gun at school throughout the day.

The victims and suspect are students at Hadley Middle School.
