Attorneys for Dr. George Tiller are asking
a state court to block two subpoenas for more than 2,000 records
from women who sought abortions at his Wichita clinic.

The motion filed Monday at the Sedgwick County Courthouse asks
for an expedited hearing.

Attorneys want the court to quash the subpoenas based on the
patients' right to privacy. It also argues clinics would face an
undue burden trying to produce so many medical records.

The doctor's attorneys also contend the grand jury process in
Kansas is unconstitutional.

Coerced? This is not the mid 1800's, Women are in a sense BIG GIRLS now and can make a decision themselves. How terrible for these people to cast their horrible thoughts regarding Tiller and his clinic! Let's not play Judgement Day....since you guys want to be Christians (and we are the in Bible Belt) act like a Christian....All those fingers you point come right back to you and the hypocritical ways you protray yourself.

Pro-life platforms have never targeted mothers who contract the killing of their children in abortion mills for prosecution, only the abortionist quacks. Abortion has never been a private issue between a mother and her abortionist quack, the baby is another person involved, whose life is usually cheaply surrendered - for convenience, or because the father or other relative or employer prod or coerce the mother into a filthy, unsafe abortion mill, knowing that it is she who will have to suffer the years of remorse, sometimes physical as well as psychological scarring, rather than the other parties involved. Sometimes, mothers who refuse to commit abortions after being threatened are assaulted or killed, God help them. Our government has a vital interest in preserving and prolonging human life. We will have criminal abortionist quacks in prison. We will have justice.

If Tiller is innocent, he shouldn't fear the grand jury's findings.

It's not Tiller's fault, he's just working for a living. You need to blame it on the real person which would be the mother of these babies! I don't think these records should be released either. You don't just sign the HIPPA policy to see yourself sign your name....

Its not right to release medical records of any kind. That is the patients right to privacy.

Ah hmmm...This is America. I believe that restricted living can be find else where. Here we have rights, and if they want to have abortions so be it. Clearly, you (Mother of Wichita) have children, thus it's none of your business. Those records are private and confidential. Perhaps it gave those women (despite the situation) another chance, perhaps it was a form of birth control for them. Again, this is not your concern or anyone elses. It's between them and God. You shouldn't cast judgement, it's not your place. Leave those people alone. Let them deal with themselves and the decisions they have made. You live your life and focus on your family and children.

I would not want strangers looking over my medical records. What happened to the HIPPA law? Leave med recs where the belong "confidental"!

regardless of beliefs, there is a law about doctor patient confidentiality. would you want your medical records open to anyone who wanted to look? how many women have had miscariages? every one of them has a "theraputic abortion" on their record.

I think the only reason there trying to block the records is because this sick and twisted person, has killed babies when he wasn't suppose to, and he knows it. The believe if the court asks for them, they need to get them. Yea they signed a paper for there privacy, but the baby inside them didn't ask to be there either, I think there are other ways then killing a baby, and someone needs to put a stop to this man.
