A Haysville doctor and his wife are being held incommunicado from family members after making what marshals say are inappropriate calls.

Fourteen-year-old Gina Schneider says she has just one question
for federal prosecutors as she and her sister were turned away last
night from seeing Dr. Stephen Schneider on his scheduled family
visitation night.

She asks: "How can they sleep at night after doing that?"

Gina and her 15-year-old sister, Zoyie, were in tears after prison officials at El Dorado Correctional Facility told family members that they could not see their father by order of federal marshals.

KAKE News was scheduled to interview Linda Schneider via phone on Wednesday. When federal prosecutors found out, they contacted the Schneider's attorney and revoked their phone privileges.

The Schneiders are in jail pending trial on a federal indictment alleging they operated a "pill mill" out of their Haysville clinic where they treat chronic pain patients.

They had recently been transferred to the Butler County jail by their own request.

Logan Kline is spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service. He says the Schneiders are not being treated any differently than any other federal prisoner.
