Clem Sander, Emily Sander's grandfather, told KAKE News that the capture of Israel Mireles is a welcome relief.

Federal authorities worked with Mexican officials to track down and arrest Mireles for the murder of the 18-year-old Butler Community College student.

Clem Sander said they cannot thank law enforcement enough for their work in tracking down his granddaughter's accused killer.

Emily's mother, Clara Biedeger, told KAKE that the capture of Mireles is all she wanted for Christmas.

Mireles faces a capital murder charge for the murder, rape and criminal sodomy of Sander.

Mireles was arrested Wednesday in Melchor Muzquiz Mexico, 5 southwest of Del Rio, Texas, on a homicide warrant from Butler County.

Mireles is being held in that country until he can be
extradited to the U.S.

The 18-year-old Sander was last seen alive on November 23rd as she left an El Dorado bar with a man police have identified as Mireles.

Her body was found six days after her disappearance about 50 miles east of El Dorado as police retraced the route they believed
Mireles took to pick up his 16-year-old girlfriend, Victoria Martens.
