Burden Police Chief, Travis Lowe, must resign as part of a plea agreement after a domestic disturbance last year.

According to our news partners at NewsCow.net, Lowe agreed to diversion for the misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct, as part of the plea agreement filed in Cowley County District Court on Monday.

Lowe was originally charged with a count of domestic battery, but the charge was changed so he could continue to work in law enforcement.

Cowley County Attorney Chris Smith says Lowe must tender and submit his resignation to the Burden City Council, so the future of the Chiefs job sits with the City Council.

The Burden City Council could either accept his resignation, and he could reapply for the position. They could also decline to accept his resignation and he could stay in that position if they so chose. The next City Counsel meeting is scheduled for early next week.
