Investigators have determined an explosion at an Andover home Thursday was caused by a natural gas leak. The explosion happened in a garage in the 300 block of West Murdock.

The leak was discovered in the gas piping under the floor of a garage.

The gas ignited when Eldon Smith, 83, tried to light a cigarette.

Smith, of Salina, died from his injuries yesterday. The explosion caused $40,000 to $50,000 damage to the home and attached garage.
