Emergency crews were called to a Derby business late Thursday afternoon after a vehicle drove into the building.

Crews responded to the "Fashion Bug" store in the 1900 block of Johnson Drive around 5:00 p.m.

The driver, a woman in her 60s, told witnesses the car wouldn't stop accelerating. After running into the building, the driver reportedly tried to make a U-turn and exit through the front door, narrowly missing two customers. The car, a Hyundai Sonata, broke the glass in the front door and became stuck.

The store was closed on Friday as workers waited for insurance adjusters and structural engineers to determine the extent of the damage.
