A former Wichita teacher is expected to be sentenced to probation later this month after pleading no contest to attempted sexual exploitation of a child under 18.

Court records show Kevin Christinat entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors last month. The Wichita Eagle reports Christinat has resigned from the Wichita School District.

The 32-year-old English teacher originally was charged with electronic solicitation of a child at least 14 but younger than 16.

Police told Wichita school officials they didn't think a student at Christinat's school was involved, nor did they think the incident happened at the school.

The plea agreement calls for Christinat to receive probation and be required to register as a sex offender for 10 years.
