A man robbed an east Wichita Walmart but was apprehended a short time later by Wichita police. A citizen was able to give police a description of the suspect vehicle and a tag number.

"At about 9 a.m. Sunday we had a male in his 40s go into the Walmart at 29th and Rock Rd in the check cashing area," Sergeant William Stevens of the Wichita Police Department said. "He demanded money and ended up taking a cash drawer from the business."

The clerk told police the man indicated he had a gun but no weapon was displayed. A citizen followed the man out of the store and obtained his car description and also his tag number.

Officers were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody a short time later at 13th Street and North Wellington Place. A cash drawer was in the vehicle.
