EL DORADO, Kan. -- A man and a teenage girl were hospitalized Saturday night after a motorcycle crashed in Butler County.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. at El Dorado Lake. Park Ranger Tyler Burt said the 21-year-old motorcyclist lost control on a curve at a high rate of speed and crashed the cycle. It then slid toward a group of people.

The motorcycle hit a 17-year-old girl. She was taken a hospital with serious injuries. Everyone else in the group was able to get out of the way, Burt said.

The motorcyclist suffered head injuries in the crash. He is currently listed in critical condition at a Wichita hospital. Burt said he was not wearing a helmet.

No names have been released.

Authorities are investigating whether alcohol played a role in the crash.
