WICHITA, Kan. — Police say a motorcycle was going at a high rate of speed before a crash Thursday afternoon that left its rider seriously hurt.

The crash happened around 5:15 p.m. Thursday in the northbound lanes of Greenwich near Kellogg. Police say two motorcycles were going north at a high rate of speed when one hit a curb, then a mailbox.

The driver of that motorcycle was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries. His current condition is unknown.

The other motorcycle, a newer red sport bike with black wheels, left the scene heading south before emergency crews arrived.

Police aren't sure if the two were racing, but want to talk to the other rider. They ask that anyone with information call (316) 268-4682.
