One person is dead following an officer-involved shooting in southeast Kansas.
Just before 6 p.m. Sunday, a Kansas Highway Patrol motor carrier inspector was called to assist the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office on a call regarding an armed person at a rural home.
Soon after the trooper and deputy arrived at the residence, shots were fired and the suspect was killed. No one else was hurt, but other details were not immediately available.
Per standard policy, the trooper involved has been placed on administrative leave while the case is investigated by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
