Gary Musselman, the executive director of the Kansas State High School Activities Association, said a contract was signed last month with SMG, which operates the arena and the Kansas Coliseum.

"I'm pleased," Musselman said. "Obviously I'm nervous like anybody that's going into a brand-new arena, one that isn't yet complete.

"... It's going to be a beautiful, beautiful arena."

The Class 6A and 5A tournaments were held at the Kansas Coliseum last February, where they were longtime staples.

From 1985 to 2005, the Coliseum hosted the Class 6A, 5A and 4A tournaments. In 2006, 4A moved to the Salina Bicentennial Center, where it's been since. Class 3-2-1A has been at Hays' Busch-Gross Coliseum since 1979.

In 2008, the Kansas Coliseum wasn't available for state wrestling, so 5A was at Hutchinson High, 6A at Koch Arena.
