The Galichia ER has announced plans to offer free services to recently laid off Hawker Beechcraft employees. Spokesman Steve Harris says the free health care will be offered through the end of next May.
The offer includes laid off employees and their immediate family members. Services provided don't necessarily have to be emergency in nature, Harris says.
"We will provide for sore throats, flu symptoms, etc... Not necessarily heart attacks or emergency services," Harris says.
"If they're sick, we'll take care of them. If they need to be hospitalized, well take care of it. We'll do it at no charge."
Harris says the offer is an investment in the community.
"We're in this for the long term. We hope they'll remember what we did in their hard times and hope they choose Galichia in the future when they get back on their feet."
People must be totally uninsured and should work through the machinist union beforehand, if possible.
