Remember the days when most parents used cloth diapers? They're back, and some say they're better than ever.
Some parents scrunch their noses and shake their heads just at thought of using cloth diapers, but some local moms are giving the new cloth diapers a thumbs up.
The great cloth diaper change 2011 is a worldwide event! Almost 50 moms showed up in West Wichita to be a part of the new Guinness Book of World Records for the most cloth diapers ever changed simultaneously.
The mission was to bring awareness to cloth diapers. Improving the environment while saving money.
A starter package per child usually costs about $250 and that includes everything from the cover shells, liners to the cloths. Compare this to almost $3,000 you spend on disposable diapers in a child's life.
But, in this day of busy schedules, working moms and multiple children, are cloth diapers realistic when it comes to convenience?
“You just clean them up and wash them and then you're ready to go again. and you have to teach your children how to take of their earth as well,” says Christi Harder mother of six.
By the way the great cloth diaper change 2011 was a success. The women set a world record. More than 50,000 women participated and 14 countries were involved.
