We've heard a lot about the benefits of breastfeeding but, even though it's suppose to come naturally, a lot of times it doesn't, And it can be a great challenge for new moms.
Breastfeeding has many health benefits- it boosts the baby's immune system, it helps fight off viruses and chronic conditions, and it reduces the risk of SIDS. That's just to name a few of the benefits.
But sometimes, new moms have trouble nursing their infant. Here are some tips to help mom's:
- Nurse as soon as possible after birth.
- Establish the proper positioning for your baby to latch on.
- Have a glass of water every time you breastfeed. This will help you make sure your drinking enough liquids.
Pediatrician Dr. Jennifer Brannon from Welsey Medical Center says new moms are encouraged to breastfeed their baby exclusively for the first six months.
