A Kansas State University professor says natural disasters like tornadoes and floods aren't getting worse, at least not yet.

Geography professor Bimal Paul said in a university release that weather severity hasn't significantly increased recently, but that could change in the next 20 years.

And he said manifestations of global warming are not clearly evident yet, but he believes they will be in the long term.

Paul says the long-term effect of climate change is a worldwide concern. Paul said it is likely to hurt economies, particularly agricultural systems, while also making water more scarce and raising the risks of diseases.
