More than 650 people are expected in Topeka this week for the Kansas Wind and Renewable Energy Conference.

The event takes place Tuesday and Wednesday, hosted by the Kansas Corporation Commission and the Kansas Department of Commerce.

The keynote address will be given by James Hoecker, former chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

On Wednesday, Gov. Mark Parkinson is scheduled to speak about the future of renewable energy in Kansas.

The conference will include sessions on renewable energy, power transmission, energy efficiency and economic development.
