2 packed cups of fresh basil leaves- washed and dried
2 cloves of garlic
1/2 cup pine nuts or walnuts
1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
3/4 cup olive oil
***To make a Sage Pesto, use the same recipe, just use sage instead of basil. You can add freshly grated black pepper to taste.
Chop basil and garlic to a coarse paste in the blender/ food processor. Add the nuts and the cheese, process briefly. Add the olive oil in a thin steady stream while continuing to process.
