Almond Toffee Squares
2nd place, Great Baking Bonanza, Kansas State Fair
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup powdered sugar
3/4 cup sliced almonds
1 cup cold butter
1 (14 oz) can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 (8 oz) package milk chocolate covered toffee bits
1 egg
1 tablespoon vanilla
Directions
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine flour, sugar and 1/4 cup almonds into a medium bowl. Cut in butter until crumbly. Press into ungreased 13x9-inch baking pan. Bake for 15 minutes. Combine Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk, toffee bits, egg and vanilla in a small bowl and then pour over crust. Top with remaining almonds and bake for 23-27 minutes or until golden. Cool completely and cut into squares.
